المستخلص
The novel "Nothing", published in 1945 by the Spanish writer Carmen Laforet, is one of the most important works in Spanish literature because of its description of the situation of Spanish women and their complete submission to masculinity, marginalization and oppression by Spanish men after the civil war. The aim of this research is critically study to this novel, in which I will shed light on the subject of masculinity and its relation to the maltreatment of Spanish women in that period. Special attention will be paid to the forms of violence highlighted in the novel in three type: physical, psychological and verbal. In order to carry out this analyze and to get closer to the problem of masculinity treatment, we will take into account the study of Alfredo Mirandé, who analyses the masculinity from various points of view and divides masculinity characteristics into negative and positive ones. We will also rely on the study by sociologist M. Zapata Galindo, who focuses on Latin American masculinity and draws on concepts used by Pierre Bourdieu and Robert W. Connell, among others.
