Claws and Hooves in Religious Texts 2- 1r- BHdty and the Gods Associated with the Falcon-Horus
This study is a continuation of what was presented in the first part of “claws and hooves in religious texts". Since the god 1r-BHdty is closely related to the claws or hooves-expressed as either an(w)t, agA(w)t or SA(w)t-, and the texts that ascribed to him having claws/hooves are so abundant; accordingly, it might be preferable to study this deity separately. The importance of this study is to clarify the functions of the deity when depicted as possessing claws or hooves, depending on the ritual associated with it, although sometimes its title does not clearly indicate the action performed by this deity. Furthermore, there are other deities who have included the word 1r as part of their names, and they are described as having claws/hooves, and accordingly, their functions are somewhat similar to that of 1r-BHdty. Interestingly, texts that include the designations attributed to these deities come from Gr. -Rom. Temples.
