This research deals with an exceptional administrative military position during the Mamluk era (648-923 AH/1250-1517 AD), namely the position of Kashif al-Qabd “inspector of the sultan’s grain collection” which was unique to Manfalut, now part of Asyut Governorate. The research examines this position historically to discern its nature and explore the informational details related to it, in an attempt to draw a clear picture of what it was like in its era. According to the research plan its main themes included the definition of the "Kashif al-Qabd" linguistically and terminologically, Manfalut's specialization in this position and the reasons for it, as well as the method of assigning its holder and his rank, bestowing a robe of honor upon him before traveling, the duties he was assigned to carry out, his stay in Manfalut and its duration, his return to Cairo after completing his duties, bestowing a robe of honor upon arrival, and his career fate thereafter.
